Post Neurosurgeon Visit (Neck specialist Dr. Arora UCSF)

Post neuro visit UCSF:  healing well—no imaging until I will get another CT in six months— He says that it may take quite a bit longer for my swallowing to get better because of anterior and posterior hardware.  He did warn that a c2-c4 issue could occur which would necessitate another surgery.  This discussion was not something I loved to hear at this point, But as he said; The Proof is in the pudding and I am doing better!  Re; swallowing:  It’s fine I’ll just be using the blender longer! It IS better but still problematic.  It’s not like I’m losing more weight! So overall good visit.  He laughed at my jokes so either he is on drugs or has a sense of humor!  AND I have a neurosurgeon in the UCSF system!  YAY!

I DROVE FOR FIRST TIME IN about 15-16 Months!!!

YIPPEEEEEE!!! I DROVE. SAFELY. To PT and also to dentist.  I feel so free!

4 month! Neurosurgeon UCSF delayed til next week

Hi I will have more to say later but this is my daily workout schedule. Or PT etc.   This takes a long time plus I have to rest in between.  I had a really great day on Monday but then I did all of this full bore and I slept 11 hours plus was still exhausted the next day~ So I am dialing back the swim to every other day.   Bicep curls are ONLY 2 # but I was in a sweat.Plus I am still having to have some naps (usually only one, often 2!) in order to keep going.   They had double booked the neurosurgeon atUCSF so I go next week to get info.   Tomorrow is PT again so I suspect I will add to my exercises! If I also cook, or work, or whatever, then all this activity adds up! I am still so thankful that I was able to have the surgery!!  I have fuzzy little feelings on left front of neck, down front of chest/shoulder and sometimes down the arm. It’s not bothersome. Hopefully healing of the nerves!  Scar mobilization and neck massage  10 min BID 20...

15 Weeks! PT and Speech Therapy

July 2  I was able to go to our friends’ wedding rehearsal and outside eating of soup and mashed potatoes! Also a wedding where the Rev Phil officiated but I just couldn’t last more than about 3 hrs total. But I am way stronger! Started speech therapy this week and also PT.  Swallowing is likely due to my body adjusting to the screws and architecture there in my throat.  There is still swelling also which PT helped with the massage.   I have tons of exercises to do until I see the UCSF neurosurgeon (now on 21st July due to him being double-booked).   Everything is getting better just slowly. OK well I AM 70 after all!  I find really my only pains are the usual (joints but they are better except for the occasional flare) and also the neck muscles and nerves going down into my shoulders.   But so so much better than before that I hardly dare to say a word about it! Fourth of July weekend and I am embarrassed by our Supreme Court and worry about our...
